Community Trust Ordinance

We have been to City Council on May 16th and July 18th to recommend that they consider a Community Trust Ordinance. Its goal is to offer clear guidelines to police and city employees and clear protection to immigrants. It also explicitly prevents police and city employees from asking about citizenship status and explicitly instructs police not to stop people based on their ethnicity or their perceived ability to speak English.

We will soon have next steps posted on this website. Thanks!

Fuerza Latina Helps to Keep Schools Open!

Back in January, 2011, Fuerza Latina and FCCAN helped form the Coalition to Save our Neighborhood Schools. We formed a campaign to keep Lincoln, Irish, Putnam, Lopez, and Beattie open. We were successful.

In April, 2013, Cheryl Distaso presented information about the campaign at the White Privilege Conference in Seattle. A pdf version of the powerpoint is attached. Contact FCCAN if you'd like more information.
